Sunset Country Club to Host 21st Senior Championship

20th Senior Amateur Champion Dr. Andy FrostSunset Country Club in Sunset Hills will play host to the 21st Metropolitan Senior Amateur Championship August 19-20.  94 competitors are registered, making this the 2nd largest field in the 21 year history!  48 of those competitors will compete in the Championship flight for the George F. Meyer Trophy.

Dr. Andy Frost (left) is the defending champion, he captured the title last year at Franklin County Country Club.  Frost and Jeff Johnson are in a battle for the Metropolitan Senior Player of the Year Award, Johnson holds a 30 point lead going into the Senior Championship.  The championship flight will tackle a 6581 yard par 72 setup at Sunset CC.  Other past Senior Champions in the field include Scott Edwards (2009, 11); Don Bliss (2006); Jim Dunn (2005) and Don Dupske (1996, 98, 99, 2000).  Dupske will compete in the 70 and Over Division.

The rest of the 94 competitors will be divided into Age Divisions of 50-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and Over.  They will compete on a more “senior friendly” setup and attempt to earn Low Gross and Low Net honors in their respective flights.
