Country Club of St. Albans Geared Up for 9th Open

The Country Club of St. Albans is geared up and ready to host 144 of the areas top amateurs, top professionals and professionals from 13 states and Canada beginning Thursday morning.  The week kicked off today with the 3rd annual MAGA/CCSA Pro-Am presented by JP Morgan and Toro .  Teams of 3 amateurs and 1 professional teed it up on the Lewis & Clark Course, supporting the 9th Open Championship and getting the opportunity for the amateurs to play with an up-and-coming professional.

The overwhelming feedback from today’s Pro-Am from the professionals was how fantastic the golf course is right now.  Superintendent Bill Maynard and his staff have the Lewis & Clark Course is superb championship condition.  It will no doubt be a stern test for the field.

David Derfel, General Manager at CCSA, quoted to the Club’s commitment to the Open.  “We are honored to host the 9th Annual Metropolitan Open Championship on July 10th-12th at The Country Club of St. Albans. Our Lewis & Clark course, which is consistently rated in the top 10 in the State of Missouri, has become an annual stop for many of the finest amateurs and pro’s throughout the country. The continued success of this championship is a true testament to the quality of tournament golf in St. Louis and our commitment to the game.”

Play begins at 7:30am Thursday and live scoring will be available all day on the Plaza Motors Scoreboard.
