Ferris Repeats; Schroeder Captures Girls Junior Title

After 15 years of playing the Metropolitan Junior Championship, Chris Ferris can say he is the first to repeat as boys junior champion  Ferris had schroederferrisrounds of 71-71 to have his name etched on the James M. Holtgrieve Trophy back-to-back.

Ferris, who plays at Lindbergh High School, has become one of the area’s top juniors competing in virtually every men’s event as well.  He will compete in the 24th Amateur Championship next week at Westwood CC.  Runner-up to Ferris was Matthew McCarthy, he had rounds of 74-74 to finish six shots back of Ferris.

In the girls championship, Abby Schroeder had rounds of 81-73 to win by one stroke over Momo Kikuchi.  Schroeder, who attends MICDS and is a Forest Hills CC member, came from 2 shots back yesterday to win the title.  Schroeder’s name will go on the Barbara A. Berkmeyer Trophy for the next year.

In the boys boys141514-15 age division, Max Kreikemeier fired rounds of 78-84 to win his age division.  He cleared Runner-Up Steven Wendling by 12 shots for the title.   Kreikemeier (left) and Wendling are picutred at the left.
