Pete Dye Course Set to Host USGA Men’s State Team

Team Missouri will make one final trip around the Pete Dye Course Monday afternoon in final preparations for the 2014 USGA Men’s State Team Championship.  Phil Caravia and Brad Nurski played Sunday afternoon, seeing the course for the first time.  Both came away with similar impressions, it is the tightest wide-open course they have ever seen.  While fairly wide-open without trees, fairways are very narrow…some in the 12-15 yard wide range.

The players dinner took place on Sunday night, team rookie Caravia had the honor of carrying in the Missouri flag for the opening ceremonies.  World Golf Hall of Famer Pete Dye delighted the crowd with some great stories on how he became interested and got started in golf.  At 89 years old, he continues to do his magic, currently working on 13 projects around the world.
