First Day Complete at 22nd Metropolitan Junior Amateur Championship

Bel Nor, MO – The first round of the 22nd Metropolitan Junior Amateur Championship from Normandie Golf Course is in the books.
John Guerra paced the scoring for the James M. Holtgrieve trophy with a 2-under 69. The Old Warson member carded two birdies and 16 pars. He was the only one in the field to go bogey-free the first 18.
There are five players within five shots of the lead.
Avery McLaughlin leads the Barbara A. Berkmeyer trophy division after a 9-over 84.
John DeLuca shot a 4-over 75 and leads the 12-13 years old division.
A long lightning delay in the early afternoon prolonged the first day. Right as the last group made the turn around 12:45 pm, lighting struck and the horns went off. Play resumed just before 3:00 pm.
Final round will begin Tuesday morning with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m.
