Rosenfeld, Vasel share Open qualifying medal
Mini-tour players Matthew Rosenfeld (pictured on left) and Kyle Vasel each carded 71s at Gateway National to share the medal Wednesday. They will join four other golfers - St. Louisans John Kelly, John Anderson, Bob Gaus and Ross Millman - in the Sectional Round of Qualifying for the 108th U.S. Open, slated for June 12-15 at Torrey Pines. Each shot 74 to advance. Tour player Trevor Dodds also shot 74, but earned the first alternate spot after he was unavailable for a potential playoff.

Match Play title; edges Kennedy, 4 and 2
Skip Berkmeyer successfully defended his Metropolitan Match Play Championship, defeating Persimmon Woods’ Brian Kennedy,
4 and 2, Sunday afternoon at Old Warson Country Club.
After trailing by a hole early in the championship, Berkmeyer assumed control in a four-hole swing midway through the front nine. It helped Berkmeyer to a 4-up lead at the turn. He closed out the match with a downhill, sidehill birdie putt at the par-5 16th. The victory was Berkmeyer's fourth in the 13-year history of the event.
