Meet Team Metropolitan:
18U
Annie Rothery joins the team as a rookie this year. Playing out of Algonquin Golf Club, the Visitation Academy Senior is coming into the team following a successful summer and fall golf season. Annie is the reigning Metropolitan Girls’ Junior Amateur Champion and was recently named the Girls Independent School League Golfer of the Year. She also made it to the Round of 16 in the Missouri Junior Match Play. Her goal for the year is to win the Missouri High School State Golf Championship, and is on her way after qualifying alongside her Viz teammates. Annie’s high school season has been a good one with her topping the leaderboard in multiple events. Her proudest golf accomplishment is when she shot 68 to win the high school District tournament.
Ally Suhre is the veteran on the girls side of the team as she returns to for a second time following a hiatus in 2025. The Edwardsville High School Senior practices out of Oakbrook Golf Course and has been working hard since her last appearance. Ally qualified for the Junior PGA Championship this summer and has won seven individual tournament titles this fall en route to the Illinois State High School Golf Championship. Her goals for the year were to win the high school state championship and get the Gateway Junior PGA player of the year award. Ally qualified for state and was just shy of accomplishing her goal after finishing in second. She sits on top of the Gateway Junior PGA player of the year standings as she reaches for her other goal.
John DeLuca is back on the team after a hiatus in 2025 like his teammate Ally. Practicing out of the Country Club of St. Albans, the Chaminade College Preparatory School Junior has been making strides in his game over the last year. John was runner-up in the Metropolitan Junior Amateur and won the 31st Future Tour Championship in Mississippi this summer. His goal for the year was to win an AJGA event, which he accomplished at the McCracken Sports Junior Championship in July. John’s golf year continues after the Mid-America Junior Cup when he makes the trip to the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship in November.
Hudson Shy returns as a veteran for his second appointment to the team and is the only returning team member from 2025. The St. Charles West High School Senior will be playing this cup at his home course of Bogey Hills Country Club. Hudson had a successful summer building his resume. He is the reigning 2026 Metropolitan Junior Amateur Champion and recently captured the STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational title after firing an Algonquin Golf Club competitive course record of ten-under in the first round. Adding his name to the James M. Holtgrieve trophy as the junior champion is his proudest accomplishment this far. Hudson was also the stroke play medalist in the Missouri Junior Match Play where he made it to the semifinals. He not only made the cut but finished T17 in the Metropolitan Amateur and made it to the Round of 16 in the Missouri Amateur. His goal for this year is to win the High School State Championship as a team and individual.
15U
Haley Castello is joining the team for the first time. The Fort Zumwalt West High School Freshman practices out of Persimmon Woods Golf Club and is already making a splash. Haley has helped her high school team become District Champions on their way state, while also claiming the District Individual title for herself. She has finished high on the leaderboard in countless U.S. Kids Golf tournaments including multiple wins. She is proud to have finished in the top 5 of the U.S. Kids Worlds twice. After finishing in 4th at the U.S. Kids Teen Worlds this summer, she was selected to be on the Teen Van Horn Cup Blue Team. Haley has already accomplished her goal for the year of qualifying for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship - this will be her second time qualifying for the event.
Madison Pyatt is a rookie for Team Metropolitan this year. Practicing out of The Legends Country Club, this LaSalle Middle School student is already mastering the game. Madison is notably the 2024 Girls 7-9 Drive, Chip, and Putt National Champion, which is her proudest accomplishment in her golf career so far. She narrowly missed out on returning to Augusta this year by one point at Regionals, but is the first alternate after finishing in second. Madison competed in the Metropolitan Girls’ Junior Amateur for the first time this year and claimed the 15U Champion title. Her goal for the end of the year was to make it to nationals with her PGA Jr. League All-Star Team. She can mark that off the list as The Legends CC Team officially punched their ticket to Nationals last month with the help of Madison.
Henry Glarner comes into the Mid-America Junior Cup team for the first time this year. He is a St. Louis Priory School Freshman and practices out of Bellerive Country Club. Henry has been working hard to improve his game this year and has set his goal of the year to develop more consistency across his game. He is most proud of his T4 finish at the U.S. Kids Teen Worlds this summer. Henry finished in the top 20 of the Junior Worlds and Future Masters Championships, while also claiming two top 6 finishes in AJGA events this year. Last month, some of Henry’s hard work paid off when he won the Golfweek Junior Tour event in Indiana.
Anthony Moore joins the team as a rookie for Team Metropolitan this year. It has been a successful year of hard work, improvement, and results for this Eureka High School Freshman that plays out of The Legends Country Club. Anthony is the Metropolitan Junior Amateur 15U Champion, which comes just one year after his 13U Champion title and moving up in division. He competed in the Future Masters and U.S. Kids Teen Worlds, where he finished in the top 52 for both events. His summer season was topped off by a trip to Whistling Straits for the Drive, Chip, & Putt Regional Qualifier. There, Anthony claimed a his spot as a National Finalist, earning a visit to Augusta National next spring to compete in the final - and marking his proudest golf accomplishment to date.
This team will take on the side from Central Links next weekend on October 24 and 25. Formatted in a Ryder Cup style, the competition will consist of four-ball, foursomes, and singles sessions. All players will compete in all three sessions. Bogey Hills Country Club will play host for this year’s cup.
