Sobbe Cup Final Four Preview

Eureka, MO - After a long summer of matches to battle their way into the final four of the Thomas O. Sobbe Cup, the teams are set and the time is near. Two of the four teams know the feeling of lifting the Sobbe Cup, while the other two are seeking to win for the first time. The four to make it to the final championship day are Bogey Hills Country Club, Quincy Country Club, Glen Echo Country Club, and Spring Lake Country Club. Each team consists of a mix of players including scratch golfers, handicap golfers, seniors, and a professional golfer. There are a total of six points available to a team in each set of matches played through a Professional Match, 2 Singles Scratch Matches, 1 Singles Handicap Match, 1 Senior Four-Ball Handicap Match and 1 Four-Ball Handicap Match.

Following the group stage of the cup, Bogey Hills Country Club came out ranked as the number one team. Bogey Hills collected 12 division points to top their group by winning 21.5 match points across four match sets. The club has yet to find themselves in the top two of the Sobbe Cup, but is hoping to make a splash by going all the way this year. To get to this point in the championship, they have taken down Greenville Country Club (No.16) and Tapawingo National Golf Club (No. 8) in the knockouts.

Spring Lake Country Club finished up the group stage on top of their group with 12 division points. After winning all the match sets, the club collected 21.5 match points to be ranked as the number 3 team. Spring Lake has never won the Sobbe Cup, but came close in 2021 when they were the runner up. To get to this point in the championship, they have taken down Old Warson Country Club (No. 14) and Algonquin Golf Club (No. 11) in the knockouts.

Quincy Country Club also found themselves at the top of their group with 12 division points. With the collection of 16.5 match points from the four match sets, the club would be ranked as the number five team. Quincy is looking to repeat to become the fifth team that has won in back to back years. The reigning champions defeated Spencer T. Olin Golf Course (No. 12) and Franklin County Country Club (No. 13) in the knockouts to make it back to the final four.

Coming in as the number seven ranked team after the group stages is Glen Echo Country Club. The club earned 14.5 match points across the four match sets to top their division with 10.5 division points. Glen Echo is looking to add their name to the trophy again, after winning in 2013. To get to this point in the championship, they have taken down The Legends Country Club (No. 10) and Westborough Country Club (No. 2) in the knockouts.

In the Final Four, No. 1 Bogey Hills Country Club will take on No. 5 and defending champions Quincy Country Club. No. 3 Spring Lake Country Club will face No. 7 Glen Echo Country Club. Matches will begin starting at 8:00am on September 15 at The Legends Country Club.
