Bogey Hills Country Club's Chelsea Schriewer (right, with the Jayne Watson Trophy) rallied late on Tuesday, finishing birdie, par, par to overtake ten-time champion Ellen Port and win her first Metropolitan Women's Amateur title on her home course. Schriewer, 21, a senior at Mizzou, posted a two-day 2-under par 140 to edge Port by a shot at the 16th playing of the MAGA Women's Amateur Championship. It marked the second time in a week that a championship came down between Schriewer and Port. In each case, Schriewer won by a stroke. Port (pictured at the final hole, below right) needed to hole this long par putt to remain tied, but came up two feet shy of the hole. Greenbriar Hills' Lindsey Haupt (and Schriewer's Mizzou teammate) finished third at 5-over 147. Catherine Dolan and Jacque Bardgett, a pair of Meadowbrook golfers who will start their college careers this fall, finished fourth and fifth respectively. Westwood's Julie Frank posted rounds of 76-84-160 to win A flight, while Bear Creek's Josee Laferriere shot 82-93-175 to win B Flight and Barbara Stahl of the St. Louis Women's Golf Association won C Flight with rounds of 91-90-181.
