2011 US MID-AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING

Two Veterans; One Rookie Qualify for US Mid-Am

The West Course at Norwood Hills Country Club was in perfect condition Thursday for the conduct of the 2011 US Mid-Amateur Qualifying. The putting greens were some of the best we have experienced this summer, firm and fast!

Two veterans of the US Mid-Am and a newcomer to the USGA Championship scene succeeded in earning the three qualifying spots. Scott Hovis (Jefferson City, MO) and Torrey Welsch (Belleville, IL) earned medalist honors posting Even par 70 over the 6790 yard West Course. Skip Berkmeyer earned the third and final spot with a 1-over par 71.
