2011 US SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING
Old Hawthorne Pro Earns Spot in US Senior Open
Sunset CC was the host for the 2011 US Senior Open Qualifying, Jeff Whitfield (Columbia, MO) shot the only subpar round to earn the lone spot available. Whitfield's 3-under par 69 was 4 shots better than the rest of the field and will play in his first US Senior Open at Inverness Club July 28-31 in Toledo, OH.
Forest Hills CC Head Golf Professional John Hayes (St. Louis, MO) was second at 73 and thus is the first alternate.
Two amateurs were one shot back of Hayes at 74, Michael Alsup (Tulsa, OK) and Bob Stephens (Indianapolis, IN) were not present for a play-off and Alsup was awarded the 2nd Alternate position by-lot.
