Former MAGA champion John Kelly
makes impressive tour debut


St. Louisan John Kelly, a runner-up in the 2006 U.S. Amateur, posted a T28 in his first Nationwide Tour event at the Albertson's Boise Open, Presented by First Health.

Kelly shot rounds of 65-72-68-71-276 to earn $4,365.

Kelly's debut was highlighted by a first-round 65 that included a back nine of 29. After starting with an even-par 36 on the front, Kelly posted four birdies and an eagle in his first Nationwide Tour round as a professional.

The former University of Missouri and CBC High School standout was a 2004 winner of the Metropolitan Amateur and 2006 winner of the MAGA Match Play Championship. After finishing as a runner-up at the U.S. Amateur in 2006, Kelly earned an invite to compete in the 2007 Masters, finishing as the low amateur in the field.He turned professional following the 2007 U.S. Amateur.
