Entries are open to amateur golfers who are affiliated with or are a member of a club which is a Member Club of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association. The entrant must have an up-to-date and current USGA GHIN Handicap Index of not more than 5.4. At the close of entries, the entrants computed USGA GHIN Handicap Index must contain ten (10) scores posted during the calendar year. This entry and USGA GHIN Handicap must be certified by the Association (or a Member Club) authorized to issue a USGA GHIN Handicap. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the Championship Committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. Field will be 144 applicants with the lowest USGA GHIN Handicap Indexes. Exempt players need not meet the Handicap Index requirement. The Championship Committee reserves the right to issue special exemptions.
All players (including exempt players) shall apply on the attached form, copies are acceptable.
$120.00 entry fee shall be paid by every applicant. Entrant may file only (1) entry. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of the reason if the Metropolitan Office is notified prior to the close of entries, July 2, 2008. After the close of entries, entry fee will be refunded only after written proof to the Championship Committee of injury or illness and such written request for refund is made prior to July 30, 2008. No refunds for any reason if written request is made on or after July 30, 2008. Application and fees must reach the Association’s Office at the address listed on the entry form by 5:00 p.m., July 2, 2008. (Entries by telephone, telegraph or fax are not acceptable.)
QUALIFYING:
MONDAY, JULY 14, 2008
FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNTRY CLUB
The Championship Committee will conduct, if necessary, an 18 Hole Qualifying Round. Qualifying Round, if needed, shall include all entrants, except exempt players. (See Exemptions below.) Number of Qualifying Spots available will be determined by Championship Committee after entries close. A tie for the final Qualifying Spot(s) and alternates will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off.
CHAMPIONSHIP: 54 holes at stroke play.
144 players are eligible, including exempt players.
First Round, 18 Holes.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 8
Second Round, 18 Holes; Cut field to low forty (40) and ties.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 9
Final Round, 18 Holes.
Lowest scorer for 54 Holes will be Champion. Any tie(s) will be decided by a four (4) hole play-off, which will be held immediately following play. The Champion will be the player with the lowest aggregate score for the play-off. In the event of a further tie, the Champion will be determined by a sudden death hole-by-hole play-off.

Runner-Up: Silver Medal
NO OTHER REMUNERATION: By this application, an entrant certifies that he is not entitled to remuneration of any kind for participation in this Championship other that the aforementioned prizes.
PRACTICE PRIVILEGES
Practice privileges (one practice round) at St. Louis CC are extended to players in the Championship on Monday, August 4, 2008. Additional information on practice privileges will be sent to players after close of entries.
Play will be governed by the United States Golf Association Rules of Golf. Questions shall be settled by the Championship Committee whose decision shall be final.
Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Balls may be used. (List is available at www.usga.org)
The Optional Condition, as set forth in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf, which places a limitation on golf balls used during a round (One-Ball Rule), shall be in effect.
Only Driver Heads on the most current USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads may be used. (List is available at www.usga.org)
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
The Local Rule as prescribed in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf shall be in effect. A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is DISQUALIFICATION, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
FOOTWEAR
St. Louis CC is a spikeless facility. Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes, comprised either partially or entirely of metal, are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this Condition: DISQUALIFICATION.
CADDIES; AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION
Qualifying: A player may use, at his own expense, automotive transportation during the Qualifying phase of the Championship.
Championship: A player may provide his own caddie at any time during the Championship, provided the caddie is not a participant in the Championship, or a player may carry his own clubs. Players and/or caddies may not use automotive transportation during the Championship Proper. Players must walk at all times during a stipulated round.
The Optional Condition for Time of Starting, as set forth in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf, shall be in effect.
REGISTRATION AT ST. LOUIS CC
All players must be ready to play at their appropriate starting point and starting time, as published.

6. S pecial Exemptions issued by the Championship Committee.
Exempt players who wish to participate in the Championship must fill a timely entry.
The Championship Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. The decision of the Championship Committee in any matter shall be final.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE
During all phases of the Championship, Competitors must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Championship Committee shall decide whether this requirement has been met and has authority to withdraw the entry of a Competitor who does not comply. The wearing of Bermuda length shorts is permitted.
Participation in this event is conditioned on Amateur Status. The USGA Rules of Amateur Status shall apply. The Championship Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant for not having Amateur Status. Disqualifying events include (i) competing for cash prizes in any amount and (ii) competing for merchandise prizes exceeding $750 in retail value.
