WHITMOOR COUNTRY CLUB
FORMAT
A two-person team net competition of 18 holes, at stroke play. A competition in which two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lowest net score of the partners is the score for the hole. If one partner fails to complete play of the hole, there is no penalty. As prescribed in the USGA Handicap System Manual: Competitors receive 90% of their Coruse Handicap (each person's handicap allocation is designated on the scorecard). The partners' course handicaps must be within fourteen (14) strokes of one another. If the difference is more than fourteen (14) strokes the competitor with the higher handicap will be adjusted down.
ELIGIBILITY
Entries are open to amateur golfers who are affiliated with or are a member of a club which is a Member Club of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association. All entrants must have up-to-date and current USGA GHIN Handicap Indexes. This entry and USGA GHIN Handicap must be certified by the Association (or a Member Club) authorized to issue a USGA GHIN Handicap. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the Championship Committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. Field will be the first 72 teams to file an entry. The Championship Committee reserves the right to issue special exemptions.
ENTRIES: Form, Fee, Closing Date
All players shall apply on the attached form, copies are acceptable.
$220.00 entry fee shall be paid by every team. Teams may file only one (1) entry. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of the reason if the Metropolitan Office is notified prior to the close of entries April 2, 2008. After the close of entries, entry fee will be refunded only after written proof to the Championship Committee of injury or illness and such written request for refund is made prior to April 9, 2008. No refunds for any reason if written request is made on or after April 9, 2008.
Entry Application and fees must reach the Association’s Office at the address listed on the entry form by 5:00 p.m., April 2, 2008 . (Entries by telephone, telegraph or fax are not acceptable.)
Competition will be 18 holes at Net Four-Ball stroke play. 72 teams are eligible.
THURSDAY, APRIL 17
Lowest team net-score for 18 Holes will be Champion. Any tie(s) will be decided immediately by a sudden-death hole-by-hole play-off, which will be decided immediately following play.
PRIZES
Champion: Trophy for a period of one (1) year; Gold Medals
Runner-Up: Silver Medals
Merchandise Gift Certificates to Whitmoor CC Golf Shop will be awarded based on number of entries.
NO OTHER REMUNERATION: By this application, an entrant certifies that he/she is not entitled to remuneration of any kind for participation in this Championship other than the aforementioned prizes.
FOOTWEAR
Whitmoor Country Club is a spikeless facility. Shoes with traditionally designed spikes, comprised either partially or entirely of metal, are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this Condition: DISQUALIFICATION
REGISTRATION AT WHITMOOR CC
All players must be ready to play at their appropriate starting point and published starting time.
PRACTICE PRIVILEGES
Practice privileges (one practice round) at Whitmoor CC are extended to players in the Championship after the close of entries. Information on practice privileges will be sent to players after the close of entries.
CADDIES; AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION
A player may provide his own caddie, provided the caddie is not a participant in the Championship, or a player may carry his own clubs. Players may use automotive transportation; which is included in the entry fee.
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
The Local Rule as as prescribed in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf shall be in effect. A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is DISQUALIFICATION, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.
RULES OF GOLF
Play will be governed by the United States Golf Association Rules of Golf. Questions shall be settled by the Championship Committee whose decision shall be final.
TIME OF STARTING
The Optional Condition for Time of Starting, as set forth in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf, shall be in effect. (See also Note under Rule 6-3.)
CONDITIONS, SCHEDULES
The Championship Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. The decision of the Championship Committee in any matter shall be final.
GOLF BALLS; EQUIPMENT
Only brands of golf balls on the most current 2008 USGA Conforming Ball List may be used.
The Optional Condition, as set forth in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf, which places a limitation on golf balls used during a round (One-Ball Rule), shall be in effect.
All Clubs utilized during the Championship must be conforming under USGA Rules. (See Appendix II, USGA Rules of Golf.)
PERSONAL APPEARANCE
During all phases of the Championship, Competitors must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Championship Committee shall decide whether this requirement has been met and has authority to withdraw the entry of a Competitor who does not comply. The wearing of Bermuda length shorts is permitted.
NOTICE CONCERNING AMATEUR STATUS
Participation in this event is conditioned on Amateur Status. The USGA Rules of Amateur Status shall apply. The Championship Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant for not having Amateur Status. Disqualifying events include (i) competing for cash prizes in any amount and (ii) competing for merchandise prizes exceeding $750 in retail value.
