BELK PARK GOLF COURSE
Entries are open to amateur golfers who are affiliated with or are a member of a club which is a Member Club of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association. Entrants must have an up-to-date and current USGA GHIN Handicap Index of not more than 5.4. This entry and USGA GHIN Handicap must be certified by the Association (or a Member Club) authorized to issue a USGA GHIN Handicap. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the Championship Committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. Field will be 120 applicants with the lowest USGA GHIN Handicap Indexes.
All players shall apply on the attached form, copies are acceptable.
$110.00 entry fee shall be paid by every applicant. Entrant may file only (1) entry. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of the reason if the Metropolitan Office is notified prior to the close of entries, June 4, 2008. After the close of entries, entry fee will be refunded only after written proof to the Championship Committee of injury or illness and such written request for refund is made prior to June 11, 2008. No refunds for any reason if written request is made on or after June 11, 2008. Application and fees must reach the Association’s Office at the address listed on the entry form by 5:00 p.m., June 4, 2008. (Entries by telephone, telegraph or fax are not acceptable.)
SCHEDULE
36 holes at stroke play; 120 players are eligible.
SATURDAY, JUNE 14 - First Round, 18 Holes
Lowest scorer for 36 Holes will be Champion. Any tie(s) will be decided immediately by a sudden-death hole-by-hole play-off.
PRIZES
Champion: Gift certificates will be awarded from Belk Park Golf Course. Gift certificates will also be awarded in a Senior Division.
NO OTHER REMUNERATION: By this application, an entrant certifies that he is not entitled to remuneration of any kind for participation in this Championship other that the aforementioned prizes.
The Championship Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. The decision of the Championship Committee in any matter shall be final.
Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Balls may be used. (List is available at www.usga.org)
The Optional Condition, as set forth in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf, which places a limitation on golf balls used during a round (One-Ball Rule), shall be in effect.
Only Driver Heads on the most current USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads may be used. (List is available at www.usga.org)
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
The Local Rule as as prescribed in Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf shall be in effect. A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is DISQUALIFICATION, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
Belk Park GC is a spikeless facility. Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes, comprised either partially or entirely of metal, are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this Condition: DISQUALIFICATION.
CADDIES; AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION
A player may provide his own caddie, provided the caddie is not a participant in the Championship, or a player may carry his own clubs. Players and/or caddies may use, at his own expense, automotive transportation during the Championship.
REGISTRATION AT BELK PARK GC
All players must be ready to play at their appropriate starting point and published starting time.
Participation in this event is conditioned on Amateur Status. The USGA Rules of Amateur Status shall apply. The Championship Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant for not having Amateur Status. Disqualifying events include (i) competing for cash prizes in any amount and (ii) competing for merchandise prizes exceeding $750 in retail value.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINTS
Metropolitan Player and Senior Player of the Year Points will be awarded. There will not be a separate Senior Division; all players will play from the same Teeing Ground. Notwithstanding, the top 10 Seniors will earn points as allocated in the Senior Player of the Year Point System. Senior players will also be eligible for points from the Men’s Point System.
