Delsing moves on to PGA Tour's


Final Stage of Q School

Pine Mountain, Ga. - St. Louisan Jay Delsing ensured that he will have status on one of American golf's top two tours in 2009 by virtue of advancing out of the PGA Tour's Q School Stage 2 qualifying Saturday, Nov. 14. All players advancing to Stage 3 will earn some status, full or conditional, on either the PGA Tour or Nationwide Tour next year.

Delsing, who has won twice on the Nationwide Tour and had a couple of runner-up finishes on the PGA Tour in his long career, posted rounds of 68-71-69-71-279 (9-under) to tie for 17th at Callaway Gardens. His 279 finished on the cut line and earned him a spot in the PGA Tour's 108-hole final stage of qualifying, slated for PGA West Dec. 3-8.

Delsing birdied Nos. 15 and 17 in a bogey-free final nine holes to secure his spot at PGA West.

Three other St. Louisans and a former Columbia, Mo., resident weren't as fortunate.

Trevor Dodds, a former winner on the PGA Tour, finished with a 1-over 289 (T67) at Callaway Gardens. Former Mizzou standoutJason Schultz also fell short of advancing to Stage 3, firing rounds of 69-72-73-69-283 (T38).

Former St. Louisan Adam Betz posted a 9-over 293 at The Hombre in Panama City, Fla., to finish T58 while St. Louis teaching professional Bob Gaus completed play with a 14-over 298 at The Hombre (T68).

Notables who advanced to the final stage include: former PGA Champion Mark Brooks, former Ryder Cupper Chris Riley, seven-time PGA Tour winner John Huston and three-time winner Robert Gamez.
