It's a boy!

Elin Woods gives birth to Charlie Axel Woods

Charlie Axel Woods, the second child for Tiger and Elin Woods, was born on Sunday, February 8. Rumor has it that the heir to the Greatest Player in Golf was clothed in Red and Black, Tiger's traditional Sunday colors.

Woods confirmed the news in a blog on his Web site early Monday that his wife, Elin, had given birth to a boy, Charlie Axel Woods. Their son follows the birth of daughter, Sam Alexis, born in June 2007 on the day after the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.

Ironically, Charlie's entry into the world came on the of the final round of the Buick Invitational, also at Torrey Pines.

“Elin and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Charlie Axel Woods, who was born on Sunday February 8, 2009,” Woods wrote in the statement. “Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Sam is very excited to be a big sister and we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Charlie's birth may also hasten Woods' return to action on the PGA Tour. Reports have circulated that his surgically repaired knee is about ready for competition. Woods, in fact, wrote in a newsletter that his return to golf would depend largely on the birth of his second child.
