Each year the United States Golf Association conducts thirteen (13) national championships, the three (3) Opens and ten (10) amateur championships. The USGA relies on State and Regional Golf Associations and its Committee people to conduct qualifying for each of those championships.
The Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association will conduct qualifying for eleven (11) of the 13 USGA championships in 2017. Beginning with the Local stage of qualifying for the U.S. Open. The Legends Country Club will host U.S. Open Qualifying on May 8. Also in May, Glen Echo Country Club will host the U.S. Senior Open Qualifying Round May 23.
Bogey Hills Country Club will welcome the U.S. Women’s Open hopefuls for 36-holes of qualifying on June 6. A big change for 2017 is in the U.S. Junior Championships, where the maximum age has been raised to 18 for both the boys and girls. Additionally, the boys qualifier has been reduced to 18-holes. MAGA will take the U.S. Junior Amateur to Kokopelli Golf Links in Marion, IL on June 26, while Lake Forest Golf & Country Club will host the U.S. Girls’ Junior Qualifier on June 29.
The U.S. Amateur qualifier will be conducted July 24-25 at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course in Alton, IL. Greenbriar Hills Country Club will be the host club for both the U.S. Senior and Senior Women’s Amateur qualifiers on August 7. August 22 both the U.S. Mid-Amateur and Women’s Mid-Amateur qualifying will be conducted at Meadowbrook Country Club.
Wrapping the 2017 USGA qualifying season will be qualifying for the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. Sunset Country Club will host this qualifier on October 2.
