Holtgrieve fires 2-under 68, wins


Senior Open Qualifying by four shots



St. Louisan Jim Holtgrieve fired a 2-under 68 to earn the lone qualifying spot in the 29th U.S. Senior Open Championship Qualifying July 7 at Westwood Country Club.


Holtgrieve will be making his fourth appearance in the U.S. Senior Open, slated for July 31-Aug. 3 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.


Carterville, Ill., professional Steve Heckel earned the first alternate spot on the strength of a 2-over par 72. David Schultz of St. Joseph, Mich., earned the second alternate spot by edging St. Louisan Dave Estes in a playoff.


Carbondale's Larry Emery also finished at 74.
